My cancer and faith

On Oct 23, 2004 I was diagnosed with AML3 at Harris Southwest Hospital near south Fort Worth, Texas.

From approximately 2000 I had been sick with all kind of aliments that no doctor could identify from where it came. Then after visiting my father’s grave to place a medal I petitioned for him during his Air Force days  on his marker, I started to bleed uncontrollably from my eyes and anus.

Later after returning home and sleeping for 2 days went back to the doctor and they ran test and was referred to Dr. Barrera of Texas Oncology.  It was his team that kept me alive through creative treatments of chemo, experimental chemo and radiation.

This took care of me medically but it was my son Bryan and fellow service-persons in the CAP that kept my spirits up.  They came from all over to visit (two were serving in Germany in the USAF and came to Texas for training, herd of my illness and came to see me)
While that nourished some of my emotional needs there was one very lacking requirement for my health.  My soul was empty, and that is when He (the Lord) allowed me to allow Him in.  After that was when I knew all things were possible.

I was not expected to live beyond 3 months and so far keep proving them wrong…because of the gifts the Lord granted Dr. Barrera's team in keeping me alive.

To them, I owe my life; to the Lord I owe my soul.

Keep the faith, and never give up the good fight.
